FAQ
I want to take lessons, how do I get started?
You can purchase lessons right now and schedule them immediately by clicking on the "Schedule Lessons" link from the navigation menu. If you perfer to talk to a person, please call us during our operating hours at 651-330-4738. We'll ask you a few questions, like what instrument you play, your experience level, and the style of music you prefer. We'll use that info to pair you with an instructor and setup a time for your first lesson.
I have a young child, how can I tell if they're ready for music lessons?
Starting your child with music lessons early will help them develop pattern recognition, discipline, and a love of the arts. Most children are ready for their first music lessons at age 4-5, but some children may start even earlier, others may not express interest in music until they are teenagers. Parental involvement is very import in a child's music lessons. Your child's teacher will work with you to set weekly goals and to make you aware of practice material your child has been assigned.
How much time will I need to spend practicing each week?
You should see good or great results if you are practicing for 20-30 minutes 4-6 times per week. If you don't have much time, you can still improve with only a couple of practice sessions each week. Music is limitless -- the more you play, the better you will sound.
How much does it cost?
Tuition for private lessons for all instruments is $80 per month for one thirty minute lesson per week. This is our most popular package and provides for a regular lesson time that is extremely beneficial to see progress while studying an instrument. We also offer individual lessons for $25 per thirty-minute lesson. The cost of the lesson must be pre-paid at the time of scheduling. There is no long-term commitment for scheduling lessons. We do require 30-days notice for discontinuing lessons. Rates for group lessons & ensembles vary per class.
What if I can't make a lesson, can I reschedule? Will I still be charged? Are you closed on Holidays?
We have the best cancellation policy on the market. You may cancel as many times as you like, as long as you provide 24-hour notice. Weekly Lesson Members must schedule one lesson per week, either using our online scheduling system, or by contacting us via phone during our operating hours. Lessons are not able to be "rolled-over" to another week. We recommend that members sign up for a recurring lesson time each week.
The school is closed on all major holidays. For members, tuition is due monthly -- some months will have 5 lessons, while other months will only have 3-4. We don't reschedule lessons on holidays, but we also don't charge extra for months with five lessons.
What do I need to bring? When should I get there? Do I need to buy a book?
All students should keep a folder of their weekly hand outs. You may be required to purchase a method book for your lessons. Guitar and bass students should bring their instruments. Amps and cables are provided, but if you have questions about operating your own equipment, you're welcome to bring it in. All other materials will be provided at the school. Please arrive early enough to start your lesson promptly at the scheduled time. Please tune your instrument before lessons if possible.
